This version will work without any additional licensing if you are running an Educational (EDU) or Not-For-Resale (NFR) copy of 3ds max. Please note that CS4 requires you to have 3ds max 5.1 installed and will not work on any other version prior to 5.1, so if you are anywhere below it, you must upgrade to 3ds max 5.1 before installing CS4.
