And guess what else, discreet have released a 3ds max - Statement of Direction, a note to the 3D community, as a reply to recent price cuts from their competitors, namely Alias|Wavefront and Newtek.
The Statement of Direction doesn't say much with regards to as when we can expect a price reduction on discreet products (3ds max), but my guess is maybe pre- or at SIGGraph2002.
Still awaiting to see 3ds max R5, too...
