3ds max 5.1 Service Pack 1 Released Posted by: amigo Source: local Date: Sun Mar 30 2003 Seems like discreet is serious about keeping on top of 3ds max 5 and any issues that it might have. We have just recently seen an update for DirectX 9, and here it comes a Service Pack 1 release, which also includes updates the previous DirectX 9, but along it has the following bug fix(es):
- In 3ds max 5.1, Object XRef, or File Merge of a scene containing an Object XRef to more than one Object would result in a redundant Scene File reference for every XRef Target Object. This has been repaired by reverting to the 3ds max 5.0 behavior, wherein only one Scene reference is used for all Objects. This fix will preclude the following workflow, which was enabled in 3ds max 5.1:
-- Skinned Characters (or any internally referenced group of objects) are brought into a scene, using Object XRef multiple times; renaming all subordinate Objects each time the Character is XRefd, so that copies can be animated independently.
--- The alternate workflow is the same as was available in 3ds max 5.0. The Characters should be copied in a separate file before they are XRefd so that they are unique when XRefd.
--- Files created in 3ds max 5.1 using this workflow should be merged into the scene creating independent copies before applying this patch, in order to maintain the respective internal dependencies.
-- The Characters can then be saved to a separate file and XRefd independently.
- In 3ds max 5.1, textures were not being displayed with Radiosity when D3DXMeshes were being used. This is fixed for both DirectX 8.1 and DirectX 9.
