San Jose, CA - Mar. 23, 2004 - Discreet, a division of Autodesk, Inc. announced its intention to support the upcoming Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. product, PSP(TM) with its professional animation, modeling and rendering software, 3ds max(R). Game developers working on titles for PSP(TM) will need to export to the new platform's format and 3ds max will be one of the first products able to do so. This announcement results from the company's continued support for its customer's needs and dedication to game title development community.

Having exceeded 200,000 license sales, Discreet 3ds max software has the largest installed base in the 3D industry. With 3ds max 6, the most recent release, Discreet has lunged ahead of its competition in the handheld game console market. Discreet's 3ds max software has a long history as the game developer's tool of choice. Used as a primary 3D application for 80 percent of the top-selling game titles, 3ds max software was a core 3D application used by 2003's top 10 developers including: Ubisoft, Rockstar, Konami and Electronic Arts for video, console and mobile game titles. (Based on internal studies.)

With the new generation of handheld gaming devices looming on the horizon, Discreet is poised as a first-mover and leader in releasing tools for this market. Discreet continues to develop and provide superior technology, tools and formats for all handheld and mobile game devices.

Discreet's 3ds max provides best of class workflow with its advanced low-polygon and bezier patch modeling workflow, together with texture and vertex paint tools and scripting capabilities that deliver exceptional content quality and efficient export features. 3ds max is definitely one of the most flexible 3D solutions on the market today for professional 3D animation artists.
