 TIGA To Launch Game Developer's Conference In Europe Posted by: amigo

TIGA, The Independent Games Developers' Association, today confirmed that it will launch a major new European developer conference to run alongside the European Games Network. The European Developers' Forum: The Interactive Entertainment Conference will take place at Excel, London running from September 1st � 3rd 2004.
The new three-day conference has support from the TIGA membership, its Board, key developers from across Europe as well as tools and technology providers. A steering committee is being convened at present by the TIGA board and a dedicated team of conference professionals with direct and high level experience of the global development sector will be announced over the next several days.
The conference has been created by TIGA in order to provide the development community in Europe with a professional outlook and a far-reaching programme of content. TIGA will announce the programme in mid-June following ratification by the event's steering committee which will convene over the next two weeks to sign off on the inaugural event's content.
The European Developers' Forum will be two days of wide ranging conference and a third day dedicated to mobile entertainment.
Ian Baverstock, TIGA Chairman and CEO of games developer Kuju, said: "We see this event as being about the people involved in game development in Europe, about the technology and about business developments in the global games development sector."
Fred Hasson, CEO of TIGA, said: "This is great news for the European development community. We need to ensure that the community has a professionally executed event that deals directly with the key issues of the moment. The European Developers' Forum will do exactly that; it is an event supported by the major development companies and talent in Europe and is programmed by the community for the community.
He added: "The UK is the centre of game development in Europe. It is therefore appropriate that a professional event for this community acts as an umbrella for everyone in the development community throughout Europe. We will of course be working closely with our partners in Europe and the US to ensure we really deliver the right mix to our audience, this means leveraging our relationships globally. "

The European Developers' Forum takes place along side the European Games Network (EGN). TIGA also has an exclusive agreement with the three-day event which will see TIGA create The TIGA International Content Market, a developers' exchange with an ambitious programme of activity creating a dedicated forum for business for developers. TIGA will be working closely with both ELSPA and EGN event organiser, London EventCo, to create, promote and manage the International Content Market
The International Content Market will be a TIGA event within EGN. It will be hosted on the main floor of EGN and will consist of an ambitious mix of open plan meeting areas and low cost closed presentation rooms, private meeting rooms and demo areas. The programme will also benefit from the EGN Meeting Planner, an online meetings diary open to all VIP delegates and exhibitors to manage and plan their time at the event.
European Games Network runs Wednesday 1st � Friday 3rd September 2004 at ExCeL London. It takes place alongside Game Stars Live, the consumer games show that runs Wednesday 1st � Sunday 5th September 2004.
