Turbo Squid Announces Forum for Mobile Game Developers Posted by: amigo Source: Press Release Date: Wed Dec 01 2004 New Orleans, LA December 1, 2004 - Turbo Squid, home of the worlds largest collection of royalty-free 3D products available for download, today launched a new discussion forum for mobile game developers. The Mobile Developers Forum, or MDF, was designed primarily for developers creating 3D content for Java M3G (JSR 184). The MDF was created with support from graphics technology developer Hybrid Graphics, whose M3G implementation is used in Discreets 3ds max 7 software to aid in mobile content creation.
The MDF is intended to aid mobile content developers by providing a forum to discuss and find solutions to technical issues, to bring developers together and to help artists and other content creators distribute their work.
Several M3G experts from the industry, including engineers from Hybrid Graphics, have agreed to support the forums by answering technical questions and taking part in the discussion. The forum promises to become one of the major sources of information concerning mobile graphics content development for Java J2ME platforms.
As the MDF evolves, mobile ready 3D content from Turbo Squids more than 7800 partner artists will be added.
Turbo Squid is a world leader in providing products and information to the 3D community, noted Brian Gaffney, President of Turbo Squid. Weve been fortunate to forge alliances with leaders in the rapidly expanding mobile game development community. The MDF is a product of these relationships and provides an online community where mobile game developers can meet online and exchange ideas, find information, and create and distribute products.
The MDF is being moderated by professionals from Hybrid Graphics and other mobile content experts. The MDF is also a distribution channel for products developed in conjunction with Turbo Squid partners Face2Face and Versaly, as well as the partner artists who currently sell their 3D products at Turbo Squid.
There is a significant need for leading edge technological information in the mobile developer world, said Ville Miettinen, Chief Technology Officer for Hybrid Graphics. A wide content development base is in the interest of everyone in the industry, and Turbo Squids Mobile Development Forums are an important part of it. We are committed to using our technical expertise to assist the mobile game developers in discussing and understanding the many technical issues in creating content for mobile phones.
