NewTek Announces TriCaster Portable Live Production Suite

 Date: Mon Feb 14 2005
February 14, 2005 - NewTek, Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading 3D animation and video products, today unveiled TriCaster, a new class of production and presentation tool for enterprise and corporate communications professionals who want to get their message across with the most powerful tool possible - video. The portable live production suite is being publicly demonstrated for the first time at DEMO, the premier launch pad for emerging technologies.

TriCaster provides a complete suite of tools for creating and delivering live video presentations at the highest professional production quality, in the most easy to use, compact and affordable package ever created essentially a live production studio in a box that will fit into a backpack. PowerPoint support, easy template-based creation of graphics and titles, and television production tools labeled in plain English rather than video jargon allow the user to begin producing professional-quality video within minutes of opening the box.

NewTek's TriCaster allows the presenter to mix live and recorded video sources with titles and graphics, including full-screen graphics and video brought in from another system across the local network. The presenter can simultaneously stream the resulting live presentation to the Internet, output it to video and to a high-resolution video projector , and record it as full-resolution digital video on the TriCaster's internal media. Output to each destination is pristinely scaled for uncompromised image quality using new technologies developed by NewTek that eliminate the need for expensive hardware scaling solutions.

"TriCaster allows anyone to elevate the quality of their live presentations, events, product launches and seminars to the level of broadcast television ," said Philip Nelson, NewTek's Senior Director Worldwide Video Marketing. "TriCaster removes the video jargon and difficulty from the live video production process. It's a professional tool designed for professionals who don't do video fulltime."

TriCaster Features Include:
* Portable live presentation from a compact box less than one cubic foot and only 10 pounds
* Designed for professionals who may be video novices, with all functions in English, not video jargon
* Connect up to three live cameras, which are immediately ready for use
* Exclusive networking technology allows TriCaster to pull in PowerPoint, graphics, or even full-screen animations from any computer screen on the same network
* Hundreds of templates for easy creation of graphics and titles
* Keying, to mix your graphics with live video
* Dozens of video transitions
* Virtual VCR cues up digital video clips and plays them back the instant they are selected for live output, boosting the production value of your presentations
* Integrated real-time video editing allows for on-site changes and client approvals
* XGA projector output of all sources means high-resolution computer graphics and animations are always sent at the best quality possible
* Video signals are scaled up to match the size of projected computer imagery
* Live streaming to the corporate Intranet or the World Wide Web at the touch of a button
* Output to video, Y/C or composite
* Archive your presentation to hard drive for later playback or editing.

Each year 70 companies from among hundreds of candidates are invited to launch products at DEMO, before an exclusive audience of executives, journalists, venture capitalists, and industry analysts. Among the past products that were launched at DEMO are PalmPilot, E*Trade, Handspring and Tivo. NewTek's TriCaster was selected as a "Producer's Pick of the Show", to be presented in the first hour of the conference in a highlighted segment introduced by DEMO's executive producer, Chris Shipley, a top technology industry analyst who has written and edited for magazines such as PC Week, PC Magazine, InfoWorld and others.

" Television has taught us how live video production ought to look, and we generally accept that live video is a powerful communications medium," said Shipley. "But professional live production tools are out of reach for most educational and enterprise organizations. NewTek upsets the economics of professional-class live video production without sacrificing functionality, and in so doing has made live video capabilities accessible to a whole new tier of the market."

Pricing and Availabilty

TriCaster will be available in North America in the second quarter for $4995US. For more information or to locate a reseller, see http://www.newtek.com/tricaster. NewTek is previewing TriCaster at the DEMO@15 Show, Booth #15, Westin Kierland Resort, Scottsdale, AZ.
