Techbits

Greg
Techbits are a brain child of Greg Hess, who initially started them on the Discreet Forum, then moved them here to a permanent home; they are gathered, (chewed up) and processed by Greg Hess and Thomas Bruno, an all around good guys, hardware experts and 3DLuVr staff/contributing authors.

The Pentium IV vs the G4. Who wins? Only people with money decide.

There are multiple rumors floating around the web regarding the purchase of Ram. It seems that there may be a RAM price FIX occuring sometime early in the 3rd quarter. The rumor states that PC133 prices will increase to 1 USD per meg and DDR to 1.50 USD per meg. Watch ram prices around the end of July and if it starts rising, buy immediately.

Picture of intel's new tualatin processor. Aka the Pentium III Part 2. (Remember these are going to be SMP disabled, and won't work in current fc-cpu motherboards without a voltage modification)

Snagged this quote off of Aceshardware.com in regards to MSI's much less expensive Dual AMD760MP board.

"MSI told us that they are expecting the MSI AMD760 MP to be available in high volume around mid august 2001. The K7D Master has four DIMM slots, one AGP Pro , three 32 bit PCI slots and two 64-bits PCI slots. The price is unknown right now but should be around 250$. "

The intel i845 Chipset. Using the aging technology of PC133 to lower the price of the P4. Looks like its a good idea to avoid this one if your even thinking of buying a Pentium IV.

Intel drops 1.8 Gigahertz on AMD and nothing happens. Anand overclocks the 1.8 to 2 gigahertz and AMD steps on it. Nothing like seeing the 1.4 Gigahertz Tbird beat a 2 Gigahertz Pentium IV in Max performance to make your day.

Monopolysoft does it again, preventing you from using the programs you want to use, controlling the information you want to read, and making sure you keep in constant contact with their servers. Yes thats right folks, I'm talking about Windows XP again.

The Radeon 2 is pushed back to a late september release. This could delay the Geforce 3 Ultra release. :(
