Techbits

Greg
Techbits are a brain child of Greg Hess, who initially started them on the Discreet Forum, then moved them here to a permanent home; they are gathered, (chewed up) and processed by Greg Hess and Thomas Bruno, an all around good guys, hardware experts and 3DLuVr staff/contributing authors.

As the ram turns....Prices go absolutely beserk. Lots of stuff happening in the world of DRAM, prices could become very erratic in the next week or so.

Intel is working on a second line of 64-bit chips to compete with Amd. Code named "Ownz j00" this chip will be "borrowing" the hammer instruction set.

In other news, AMD is borrowing intel's P4 technology, and automatically increasing system performance by adding 500-600 higher numbers on all their processors. (sarcasm)

Though I usually don't post Mac news...Apple gets sued by Mac users. And we thought they were all zealots.

AMD releases a variety of mobile processors, including a whopping Athlon 4 1500+. (1.33 Ghz)

Now to find a laptop manufacturer using a 1.333 with a Quadro2go =).

Out of 5.25 bays in your case? Need some way of backing up all the "image" files? Look no further then the external plextor 40x/24x/12x USB 2.0 burner. A great buy from all the folks who just bought an Asus A7266-D Dual AMD. (It comes with a USB 2 card)

Supposedly leaked Geforce 4 information. Shows you some of the guesses at performance you might see from the new cards. Could be hogwash. Only nvidia knows.

Best buy to make their own PC brand to counter the other big boys in the market. Little did everyone know, they've been doing this for years, you just have to request a custom PC from them.

Via finally releases a patch to fix the age old PCI/IDE problem. Seems not only does the patch remove all the errors and rare corruption that occurs, but it also speads up HD transfers, as much as 20 megs/sec!
