After you selected the vertexes click on "use soft selection" ( follow the red arrow).
The Soft Selection controls make a sub-object selection behave as if surrounded by a "magnetic field." Unselected sub-objects within the field are drawn along smoothly while you transform the sub-object selection, the effect diminishing with distance. This falloff is visible in the viewports as a color gradient surrounding the selection.
Write "70" in the falloff slot. The vertexes with red arrow become yellow.

Now move the vertices in the direction of the arrows to have the shape like in the tutorial.

Select the red marked vertexes ( without soft selection ) and move them in the arrow direction.

Move up the marked vertexes. If you check always the last pictures you can understand what you are doing.
