Good day everyone. First many thanks to all who have voted for me in this contest and special thanks to my wife - it was her idea was to make winged workers.
Idea Development
Originally I tried to keep the scene look realistic.
On the one hand, wings that could carry human�s weight must have length no less then 5 meters yet they must be as small as possible. They must not hinder flying in narrow spaces. Again, wings must be compact when they are closed, and walking with them would be uneasy. So the worker's wing have more joints than bird's or bat's ones. Below in the picture is shown a scheme of wrapping of the wing.
Wing must be reinforced with metal rods for more durability, like a hang-glider. Later I removed rods because the result was too rough. In the final version wings actually hang like a cloth.
One more immortant element was the tail, needed to control flight. But an angel-like appearance looked more appealing than a real human-bird, so the workers don�t have tail feathers.
 The wings must be a tight fit with the body. For that a part of vertebrae, several ribs and segment of lung are removed. In their place a reactor joint and sockets for wings is placed. Wings are detachable so they don�t obstruct the worker in day-to-day life. Vertebrae partially lose its flexibility after operation but flexible vertebrae in worker�s life isn�t too important, worker is not an acrobat.
Pen-feathers on wings are not functional - they are just drawn on wings. Bird�s wings look more appealing than bat�s wings. Wing-making corporation knows this so birds feathers are just a marketing trick. Below is shown side view of final version of the wing.
