Bones and Envelopes
Seen below are the bones that were placed inside the mesh. They were created in a double click but the placement of the bones was difficult.

Each bone creates a double envelope which tells which points will be assigned to a certain bone. The inner envelope contains points that are assigned 100% to that bone. From the inner envelope to the outer is a variation from 100% to 0%.
Also two or more envelopes can overlap meaning that there will be smooth change between bones. As seen below I was adjusting the envelopes of the right upper arm. It took a few hours to complete the point assignments but it worked much better then the older way of skinning 100% to a single bone.
